Nexus-Kindred seeks foster families to accept short term placements of youth ages 8-17 in our cutting-edge program called Collaborative Intensive Bridging Services (CIBS).
This short-term, 30-day foster care option is a key ingredient of an intensive in-home therapy model focused on helping families who are challenged by the emotional and behavioral difficulties of their children.
Within the 30-day period, youth and their family develop new skills and CIBS Foster Homes become part of the treatment team, supporting the child and their family. While in the foster home, youth will focus on practicing skills of coping with emotional regulation, constructive interpersonal interactions, and basic life skills. CIBS foster families are reimbursed a daily rate when they have a placement and receive a lowered daily “reservation” rate when they are waiting for a placement.
What makes a great CIBS foster family?
- Patience and flexibility and a willingness to learn
- The ability to teach youth important skills in communication and stress management
- The time to actively engage on a regular basis with the child’s in-home therapist
- An interest in being a mentor to the youth and their family
- A passion to help keep families together
