Our treatment foster care services are community-based treatment programs in Baltimore, Maryland, that trains and licenses foster parents to provide in-home care to youth who are in need of mental health services.

Who we serve
We provide children and youth (ages 0-21) that have a mental health diagnosis involving severe emotional and behavioral problems, safe, specially equipped foster homes that have the skills and resources to meet their complex needs.
Our program provides embedded mental health resources, case management, skills coaching, parent partnership, and aftercare support with the youth, their biological family, and their foster family.
Kids in our treatment foster care program are placed in foster homes that are specially equipped to handle their unique needs. We carefully match each child with a foster parent who can care for their unique needs.
Our foster parents are committed to being change agents for kids and are certified for the treatment foster care program using the Presley Ridge Training curriculum.
Together, we help set clear, realistic benchmarks and goals for each child and to help them achieve it. While in foster care, youth will attend a school appropriate to their needs, often the Woodbourne School.

How treatment foster care works
Our treatment foster care families are trained and certified in medication management, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care, and they’re focused on helping foster youth build healthy relationships and develop valuable life skills. We provide highly individualized, wraparound care for youth with complex needs and their families in the foster care system.
Open your heart and home
Foster parents are regular people. Some work at home or in the office; some own or rent their home; some have many children or none at all. Yet the difference they make is extraordinary.
Youth in foster care experience an array of challenges far beyond what we may imagine. With the right foster family, a child can receive the care, love, and support they need until they are able to return home safely to their family.

How does it work?
1. Let’s chat!
Let’s start by having a conversation. We can answer your questions, discuss your interests, and share information about what it means to be a foster family.
If you’re ready to move forward, that’s wonderful—we’ll start the application process with you. If you decide it isn’t the best time for your family to foster, that’s just fine! There is no pressure from us. Contact us today to schedule a conversation
2. Start the paperwork.
Once you’ve decided to move forward, you’ll need to complete an application, schedule a background check, and provide references. We’ll gather information about you and your family and your reasons for wanting to foster, so we can effectively match children who fit your family.
3. Prepare for success with some training and support.
Foster families are considered part of our professional team. Before and during your time as a foster family, you’ll participate in training programs. We want you to feel confident and successful every step of the way!
4. Wait for your licensing.
Licensing, assessments, and background checks can vary from a few weeks to a few months. Your social worker is available to answer questions during this time of waiting.
5. Welcome a child into your family.
Once the preparations are complete, the journey is just beginning! Your family’s social worker will develop an ongoing relationship with you and provide 24/7 support.

Treatment foster care FAQs
How is this different from regular foster care?
Treatment foster care is designed to wrap supports and services around the child who has a diagnosed mental or behavioral health concern and meets the criteria to qualify for treatment level care. These services include intensive in-home therapy and skills for the child, the permanency home and foster home.
Where and how are youth placed?
Youth are placed in treatment level foster homes through a matching process coordinated by the referral manager in consultation with the treatment team.
